Red Carnival for World AIDS Day 2011 at Sungei Wang Plaza – this year’s event was the biggest and best ever!

27 November 2011

This year marks the 10th anniversary of PT Foundation organizing Red Carnival at Sungei Wang Plaza, which happened this weekend on the 26th and 27th of November 2011.

Over the 2 days performers such as Atilia, Francesca Peters, Dayang Nurfaezah, Owen Yap and Will Quah entertained the crowds while over 200 volunteers distributed thousands of pieces of HIV information and over 20,000 red ribbons to over 60,000 members of the general public. Anonymous HIV tests were offered for members of the general public and over 40 people participated.

The event was launched by His Excellency Mr. Kamal Malhotra, United Nations Resident Coordinator for Malaysia, YBhg Encik Hisham Hussein, Chairman of PT Foundation, Ms. Ann Foo Sook Chuen, Senior Brand Manager for Durex, Pn. Rosewati Ghani, Executive Director of Malaysian AIDS Council and our celebrity supporters on Saturday 26th November 2011 at 2pm.

World AIDS Day is on the 1st of December each year and is a global event where the world takes time to recognise the issues relating to HIV/AIDS and remind ourselves how we can all do our part to combat HIV/AIDS. This year the theme of WAD is “Getting to Zero”. Our message is that we must all commit to stopping HIV/AIDS and that this is the only way we can effectively address the pandemic in Malaysia and globally.

We would like to thank all our volunteers and staff for making this event the best ever.

We must also thank our every supportive partners – United Nations, Hivos, Durex, Sungei Wang Plaza, Edelman and Malaysian AIDS Council.

You guys did not reference the African singers and musicians that performed at this carnival. That is not nice.
